Services

Acupuncture

This is a primary service provided at the clinic. Acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny filiform needles at specific areas to affect change in the body. Acupuncture is commonly used for pain resolution but can also be used to alleviate many other ailments such as gastrointestinal issues, psycho-emotional symptoms, neurological disease, respiratory illness, cardiovascular issues, and many more. The acupuncturist uses the needle as a tool, like a surgeon may use a scalpel. This is how so many issues can be successfully treated.

Custom Herbal Formulas

Herbal formulas are pharmacy of Chinese Medicine. A typical formula may contain two, up to twenty herbs and is created specifically for you and your needs. The uses are as varied as acupuncture. The benefit of herbal formulations is that is gives you something to take home and drink on a daily basis, so your body never forgets the purpose of the treatment. Most herbal formulas are given in powder form, which can be added to hot water and drank like tea.

Postural Assessment

Posture and pathology are intimately related. Posture can be the cause of an issue or can result from one. I use postural assessment to see the progress of your treatment as well as give you feedback as to how you are doing. If postural corrective exercises are necessary, you may be sent home with some to do in order to reinforce the treatment.

Topical Liniments

These are typically alcohol extractions of raw herbal formulas, used topically to aid in injury recovery. They work best for musculoskeletal issues and trauma. A simple application to the site of injury will speed up recovery time and reduce pain and swelling. Topical liniments may be applied during treatment or you may be sent home with some to apply yourself.

The Process

  1. Appointment is made and paperwork is sent out and completed.
  2. Our office will reach out to schedule a phone conversation with Dr. Callison. This will include a review of your intake and a conversation about any treatment modalities he thinks will be affective for your recovery.
  3. On the day of the appointment you will meet Dr. Callison in person and he will both complete a physical exam and perform an acupuncture treatment, which also works to assess and diagnose your condition. At the end of your treatment, Dr. Callison will advise on approximate amount of treatments necessary to resolve this case. If Dr. Callison has prescribed you any “take home assignments” you are advised to complete them before the next visit.
  4. On the follow up visit(s) Dr. Callison will continue to treat with acupuncture or any other modality necessary (previously discussed).
